Why Virtual School
Watauga Virtual Academy is a flexible, accessible option for public education that allows our students to learn and work from home or anywhere!
1. Highly Qualified Teachers
2. Free learning option
3. Socialization - WVA students engage with their teacher and their peers in a structured, online environment with additional opportunities for academic support and engagement in a safe space. We offer a number of in-person learning and social opportunities throughout the year. Students have access to try out for middle school sports. Students can also participate in clubs and extracurricular activities such as Battle of Books, Student Council, and Girls on the Run for example.
4. Flexible learning - WVA students can log on from anywhere that provides internet access. Assignments and asynchronous days allow students and their families to engage in school and meet their own specific needs.
5. Dual-enrollment - WVA students can dual enroll in the academy by taking only two or more core classes. This allows them to participate in WCS athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities through the student’s home K-8 school.
